A single large PDF is not always what you need. Sometimes only chapter three matters, or the one page with a signature. Split PDF cuts a document exactly where you tell it to.

Two ways to split

Every page as its own PDF. Good for scanned bundles, such as a stack of invoices that was saved as one file. You get a ZIP with one PDF per page.

Custom ranges. Type the ranges separated by commas, such as 1-3, 4-6, 7. Each part becomes its own file, so that example gives you three PDFs.

Step by step

  1. Open Split PDF and add your document.
  2. Choose Every page or Custom ranges.
  3. If you chose ranges, type them in the box.
  4. Press Split PDF and download your files. Several files arrive in one ZIP.

Split or extract?

Splitting gives you several files. If you only want one new file with a few chosen pages, such as pages 4 to 9 of a long report, use Extract Pages instead. It saves you from unzipping and picking.

Why people split PDFs

  • Sharing only the relevant chapter or section.
  • Getting under an upload limit by sending a document in parts.
  • Separating scanned documents that were saved together.
  • Keeping private pages out of a file you share.

After splitting

If any part is still too large, use Compress PDF. If you later need to join pieces again, Merge PDF puts them back together in the order you choose.

Privacy and quality

Splitting runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Because pages are copied as they are, fonts, images and layout stay sharp.
